Why Decking as an Option….
Simples, love life outdoors as often as we can, sitting on our own reading a book or enjoying a summer barbeque with friends. A well designed and thought out Deck is the perfect platform, at Smalley Ward we offer a full design and build service, we will listen to your thoughts and ideas throughout the planning process and also advise on the various material options which could be Timber or Composite. Whatever your requirement we can find the perfect solution.
A patio or terrace can be made from many materials – Brick, Stone, Precast Slabs or Ceramic Tiles, for example. Decking has many advantages over other materials:-
- Reduces excavation, Foundations, and retaining walls.
- Avoids wet construction, allowing quick and simple installation
- Reduces heavy labour and machinery.
- Simple changes of level are achieved with Ramps or Steps, and allow for Balustrades & Handrails.
- Added features such as Pergolas, Gazebos, Glass Rooms, Planters, and fixed seating can be installed over decking.
- You're left with a surface which is uniform and comfortable, and safe to walk on, extremely important if you have Babies, Toddlers, and the Elderly to consider.
Design...
At Smalley Ward, we pride ourselves on our abilities as Designers. After discussing a design brief with our clients, we go back to The Studio and work up exciting ideas that will lift your garden areas to an unbelievable level, that you will be extremely proud of and be able to enjoy for many years to come.
Installation...
Our installation Teams have all been trained up to a high standard and understand that our Clients expect nothing but a Premium Formula 1 finish. We constantly strive to exceed expectations at all times. One of the most important parts of the construction process is the Sub-Frame, we use treated timbers, galvanised joist hangers, and Damp Proof Tape to provide huge stability and give your new Decking longevity.
On Completion...
The working and surrounding areas will be left in pristine condition and our Project Manager will do a thorough walk through handover to ensure that you are completely satisfied with your finished decking.

Softwood Timber Decking...
Timber Decks are our most popular and cost effective choice of Decking material, and always readily available.
Our Timber Decking has all been sourced from sustainable supplies and its journey from Forest to your location can be audited via the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC).
All our Timber Decking is pre-treated with a Tanalith Formulation and carries a 15 year product warranty against Fungal Decay and wood boring insect attack, as always your new deck must be maintained correctly throughout its life to achieve this.
As long as you maintain your Timber Deck after it has been professionally installed it will last for decades, the deck can also be stained or painted to blend in with the overall theme of your house and garden.
